History

The Beaux-Arts and Neo-Renaissance style luxury hotel was built in 1926, designed by Mihran Mesrobian for developer Harry Wardman.[2] Cordell Hull lived there during World War II.

The hotel was renovated from December 1987 to October 2, 1988 at a cost of $16 million.[3] In 1999, it was renamed the St. Regis Hotel. In 2008, it was renovated again.

The hotel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and is designated as a contributing property to the Sixteenth Street Historic District.
